On February 12, 2026, two Malaysian citizens from the state of Malacca, Malaysia, were apprehended and taken to the religious courts.
Their crime? According to a fatwa from 2024, it is forbidden in Malaysia to believe in and practice The Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light.
They were interrogated for long hours and denied access to legal representation. Their religious materials were used as evidence against them. Mohamad Shahirman's house was also raided.
They were both sentenced to 9 months in prison, and they still have open investigation cases against them, which expose them to further extensions of their imprisonment.
This is a blatant violation of freedom of religion and basic human rights. No one should be persecuted for peacefully expressing their faith.

Faith is not a crime. They believe the Imam of their time
لعنت خدا بر حکومت ظالم مالزی
آزادی عقیده حق هر انسانی است
برادر ما را آزاد کنید
Faith is not a crime. Stop the criminalization of the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light!!!
