AROPL Court Appearance Drives Press Coverage and Local Protests

With the court appearance of several members of The Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light on the 17th of June 2026, a number of protesters attended the Magistrate’s Court in Crewe for a direct and, in some instances, violent confrontation. 

Press coverage surrounding AROPL on this day took two fronts. One which highlighted a call from 14 Non-Governmental Organisations published in Bitter Winter magazine, “Appeal for Immediate and Sustained Police Protection for Members of the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light (AROPL)”. The other front took to reporting on the court appearance of the members accused of obstructing Police officers on the day of the raid, the 29th of April 2026. The letter appealing to the British authorities voiced several concerns that have largely been overlooked by the press and authorities. The credibility of the letter was intensely magnified by the individuals who had put their names to it, making the concerns highlighted all the more serious and relevant for the authorities to pay attention to and not dismiss or ignore. The coverage of the court attendance by the mainstream media seems to have covered the exact same details as if it had been pre-scripted and provided to both the BBC and ITV. This contrasts with the coverage seen in The European Times and republished by HRWF, written by Massimo Introvigne.
