Cape Town, South Africa — The 2025 CESNUR Conference, recognized as one of the world’s largest international academic gatherings dedicated to the study of religion and new religious movements, took place from 14 to 19 November 2025 in Cape Town, South Africa.

In response to a public debate challenge issued by Ayatullah Qazvini, who accused Imam Ahmed Al-Hassan of apostasy and called for a debate or Mubahala, Hamidreza Saghari—Bishop of Iran for the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light—accepted the challenge on behalf of his faith.
